Custom-Made Furniture in Bengaluru: How the Process Works
How made-to-order teak furniture works in Bengaluru: from first conversation and design to quote, workshop build and delivery — plus how to brief your maker well.
Ready-made furniture is designed for an average room. Made-to-order furniture is designed for yours — the exact wall length, the corner by the window, the fabric that suits your floor. Every Supreme Woods piece is made to order in solid teak. Here’s how the process works, step by step, and how to make it go smoothly.
Step 1: The conversation
It starts with how you live. Who uses the room? Do you host often? Do you have young children, pets or elderly parents? What do you love — and dislike — about your current furniture? You can start this conversation at our Yeshwanthpur showroom or simply on WhatsApp with a few photos of your room.
Step 2: Design, size, finish and fabric
We start from one of our designs — or from a reference you bring — and adapt it:
- Size: length, depth and seat height adjusted to your room and your family.
- Configuration: a 3+1+1 set, a 3+2, a corner sofa or a sectional; a 4, 6 or 8-seater table; chairs or a bench.
- Wood finish: Natural Teak, Honey, Walnut or Espresso.
- Upholstery: fabric colour and texture — many designs already come in more than one fabric.
- Tops: solid teak, glass or marble for dining and coffee tables.
Step 3: A clear quote
Once the details are settled, you receive a quote for the agreed design, sizes and materials. A good quote spells out what’s included — for example cushions, glass or marble tops, delivery and placement — so there are no surprises.
Step 4: Built in the workshop
After you confirm, your piece is made in our workshop: timber selected and cut, frames joined, carving and detailing done by hand, surfaces sanded and finished, and upholstery made and fitted. Typical lead time is 4–6 weeks, depending on the design and the season.
Step 5: Delivery and placement
We deliver, place and finish your furniture in your home in Bengaluru. Large sofas and long tables may arrive in sections and be assembled in the room.
How to brief your maker well
- Send measurements of the room and of the entry route (lift, doors, corridors).
- Share references — screenshots of designs you like, even from other places, and say what you like about each.
- Say what to avoid — “no light fabrics”, “nothing too low”, “must fit under the window”.
- Share your deadline early if you’re working to a handover or a housewarming.
- Decide together who in the family has the final say on fabric — it saves time!
Made-to-order vs ready-made
| Made to order | Ready-made | |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | Sized for your room | Standard sizes |
| Choice | Your finish, fabric and configuration | What’s in stock |
| Materials | You know what it’s made from | Varies |
| Time | Typically weeks | Often immediate |
If you need furniture tomorrow, ready-made makes sense. If you want a piece that fits perfectly and lasts for decades, made to order is worth the short wait.
Larger projects
We also furnish whole homes and commercial spaces — offices, clinics, cafés — and work with interior designers and architects. Larger pieces like the Valencia Carved Sectional or the Aspen Tufted Sectional, and complete lounge sets like the Cove Lounge Set, show what’s possible.
